Here are the new features and updates released by the Aidbox team in August 2024. See the full release notes here.
Aidbox
- Dynamic Topic-Based Subscriptions and Kafka Integration: Aidbox has introduced a new implementation of topic-based subscriptions, now supporting Kafka (both OSS and AWS) as delivery channels. A new demo showcases how a completed QuestionnaireResponse can be published directly to a Kafka topic, simplifying the flow of structured data into your systems.
- Self-hosted Aidbox Integration to ViewDefintion builder: You can now connect your self-hosted Aidbox instance to the ViewDefinition builder for optimized UI-based authoring and debugging ViewDefintions.
- SQL on FHIR Enhancement: The SQL on FHIR spec coverage has been further expanded, improving FHIR data query capabilities.
Aidbox Forms Updates
The UI builder for FHIR Questionnaire-based forms has received several important updates to streamline the form creation process:
- Multilingual Support for Forms and Form Builder: Aidbox Forms now supports creating and editing forms in multiple languages, providing broader reach and adaptability. The new multilingual builder interface allows you to build and manage multilingual forms with ease.
- Reusable Form Components: Save time by reusing existing forms as components in new ones.
- External Terminologies Integration: Termbox server integration allows for the use of external terminologies in Aidbox Forms, expanding the available data sets.
- Embedding Forms as Web Components: Now you can embed forms as web components, making them easier to integrate into other applications.

You can now get free Aidbox dev licenses to turn your FHIR ideas into reality! These licenses never expire, but there’s a 2 GB database size limit and they only support synthetic data (no PHI). Ideal for diving into FHIR, joining FHIR Connectathons, or running POCs.
