Patients Know Best Chooses Aidbox to Drive Interoperability for Its UK-Based PHR

March 4, 2024

Health Samurai, a leading FHIR platform provider, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Patients Know Best (PKB), a UK-based social enterprise and innovative Personal Health Record (PHR) platform. This collaboration will enhance interoperability and empower patients to take control of their health.

Founded in 2008, Patients Know Best has been a pioneer in the PHR space, with over 15 years of experience and more than 17 million patient records shared across the UK. PKB's platform allows patients to access and input health information, communicate with healthcare professionals, and share their records with family and carers, all in a secure and privacy-focused manner. Patients Know Best is a digital health company that provides a patient-controlled medical records system.

PKB is reshaping the world's first-of-its-kind patient-controlled records system to enhance patient experience and accessibility to NHS services. By leveraging the power of the Aidbox FHIR server and the Aidbox Form Builder Module, PKB empowers individuals to take control of their health information, fostering a patient-centric healthcare environment. This integration of Aidbox tools streamlines data management and represents a significant stride toward a more interconnected and efficient healthcare ecosystem.

By integrating Aidbox, Health Samurai's FHIR-based solution, Patients Know Best makes it easier for developers to build apps on the PKB platform. More patients will have more data more quickly, and clinicians will deliver better care more safely.

Mate Varga, CTO at Patients Know Best

The collaboration between Health Samurai and Patients Know Best highlights the growing importance of patient-centric healthcare solutions and the need for secure, interoperable systems. This partnership drives innovation in the UK healthcare market and beyond.

I skipped a lot of recent conferences to prioritize attending FHIR Camp 2024 in Portugal the week before last. It was well worth the trip! It was great to hear Grahame Grieve give the background story on how FHIR came to be an open source effort. The open source angle is really important and unique in that it will require a lot of meaningful collaboration and perhaps unprecedented transparency (things we're not great at in the US) to advance these standards in the coming years. There is and will be a lot of opportunity for people to develop and offer FHIR expertise.
